Loy Norrix High School closed Monday due to threat

KALAMAZOO, Mich– Loy Norrix High School will be closed Monday, after a threat was received Sunday night.

The district tweeted out it is a precautionary move as the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigates.

FOX 17 received a tip about a social media post regarding someone wanting to ‘blow up’ the school.  We contacted investigators who say they are aware of it and are looking into the situation.

The Director of Student Services for the district, Nkenge Bergan, says the safety and security of students are very important to them, adding the district is working with KDPS.

Anyone with further information should call KDPS at 269-488-8911 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
