GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A teen has been charged as an adult Thursday for killing his half-sister.

Savon Eugene Schmus charged with murdering 18-year-old McKenna Hilton.

A Kent County Sheriff's Department deputy testified that Schmus admitted to strangling Hilton at an apartment along Plaza Drive, according to a probable cause affidavit. The deputy testified that Schmus said he then carried her body to a car and drove to the area of Emerald Lake and Valentine Street NE to dump her body.

The sheriff's department said in a release Wednesday that autopsy results concluded that Hilton had been strangled.

Family and friends packed the courtroom Thursday for the arraignment.  Schmus is being held without bond.

He has also been moved from the Juvenile Detention Center to the Kent County Jail because he is being considered a danger to himself and others.  He will be housed separately from the general population.

Hilton was a recent graduate of East Kentwood High School and an employee at Craig's Cruisers.

As Paul Harvey used to say,”In a minute you’re gonna hear the rest of the story.”. I get the feeling that there’s more to this story than we’re getting. Wait for the trial to find out.

That is a bad thing to say Jerry. Just because women have kids with black men does not mean those babies are worthless. God creates everyone in his image. People are all capable of doing bad things. This kid did a very bad thing indeed. However, we can not judge anyone. That’s the Job for our lord and savior. I feel bad for everyone involved. Young girl lost her life and a young teen will be in prison life. Everyone is a loser in this situation. Let’s all remember there is family out there suffering. Keep family in prayers and pray that this young man finds God in prison.

Well now I understand. I knew there was something hinkey about the way the information was being released, or in this case, kept from us. PC is more important than a white girls life.
